This mother HUNTED her daughters' killers across Mexico, Taking them Out One by One

On January 24, 2014, a life-altering call reached Miriam Rodriguez at 4 a.m. It was from her eldest daughter, Azalea, revealing a grim reality that would forever change the course of Miriam and her family's existence. The Zeta drug cartel had kidnapped Miriam's younger daughter, Karen, demanding a ransom of $77,000. Despite Miriam promptly meeting their demands and making subsequent payments, Karen was never returned. In the following months, Miriam uncovered the tragic truth that her daughter had been not only kidnapped but also brutally murdered, becoming another victim of the widespread violence inflicted by Mexican cartels.

Determined not to succumb to silence or fear like countless others, Miriam emerged as an unwavering force against the backdrop of danger. She assumed the role of an avenging angel to claim vengeance for her daughter and devoted herself to tirelessly identifying, tracking, and ultimately apprehending those accountable for Karen's abduction.

To track down the individuals responsible for her daughter's murder, Miriam took matters into her own hands. She began a personal investigation, exploring the distant areas of Tamaulipas without police assistance. Miriam built connections, befriended families, used disguises, and deceived associates to gather information. Miriam spent two years hunting down Karen’s kidnappers, setting traps for them and relying on law enforcement agencies only when she was sure that they would be arrested.

Using various disguises and fake IDs, she helped catch all 11 kidnappers. Faced with unhelpful or corrupt authorities, she also started a group called "Colectivo de Desaparecidos de San Fernando" (The Vanished Collective) to support 600 other families searching for their missing relatives.

In 2015, a local 18-year-old gave Miriam a tip that finally revealed Karen's fate. Miriam learned that Karen was dead, buried on a distant, abandoned ranch. At the site, Miriam discovered a house full of bullet holes and a noose hanging from a tree. She found Karen’s scarf and a bone, later confirmed to be part of Karen’s femur.

By 2016, every one of Karen abductors had been brought to justice. Four were in prison awaiting trial while another six were dead. Tragically, her relentless pursuit of justice enraged the Zeta cartel, and Miriam was murdered. She was shot 8 times in front of her house on Mother's Day.
